One of my favorite things is to discover old lures by small makers I never knew existed. Here's a few that stick out in my recent memory, all are quite obscure with little to no information available on them in "the books". NFS, just for lookin'

Glenn Brye Porpoise Minnow made in FL
Geoff's Special NIB made in FL
Disch Minnow (I think) made in MI
Earl Dilyerd Vamp Type Minnow made in FL (often confused with Kimmich)
Splinter Brothers Frog made in WI
Earl Tharp Sharkie made in OK

Would love to see other examples of super obscure baits from your collections...

Thanks, Scott

Jason, it was great to talk with you Saturday at the Lancaster Show! Wow, you are right, that's an incredible Kimmich collection!

So, to followup with our conversation, the first 2 pics are from Stuart's book. Provenance being the trump, I would say that the probability lies with Stuart's attribution being a mis-identification. Hard to argue with the context of your collection and the fact that it came straight from the source.

The 3rd pic is another Kimmich Vamp I bought off the auction site which was advertised as a Dilyerd lure.

Finally the last 3 pics are of a Wiggler lure I obtained in the Wentz auction, along with the Korte patent for the Kimmich lip. Coincidence and no relation? Maybe. But I though they were similar enough to warrant further research.

Anyway, great talking with you and I look forward to your response.

Scott, I would love to find one of those frogs for my collection. A really cool lure!

I included some pics of John Kimmich lures. Most were acquired from his family or folks that worked for him or from the late Ed Latiano that acquired them from Kimmich directly. What is the connection between Kimmich and Earl Dilyerd ? Kimmich wintered in Florida for several months each year ??
