The National Fishing Lure Collectors Club (NFLCC) is a non-profit, educational, international organization founded in 1976. The primary objectives of the NFLCC are to foster an awareness of fishing tackle collecting as a hobby and to assist members in the location, identification, and trading of vintage fishing-related equipment.
Bulletin Board
This bulletin board is provided as a public forum for announcements, messages, questions, chat or almost anything else you can think of related to antique fishing tackle. Lure Identification, Harden's Whiz?

Please let me know if you have any ideas on the identification of these two lures. I was thinking that one or both could be a Harden's Whiz but can't match some of the known book descriptions. Your help and input is appreciated.

Thank you Joe! I looked on the PICO Lure Website and discovered that it is a Nichols Lure Company Bay Witch Spinner as shown in the upper right corner of the old catalog they had posted on their site that I've included with this post. Further research shows that this lure has ceramic eyes and likely made between 1933 and 1936 by the Nichols Lure company in Corpus Christi prior to its name change to the Padre Island Bait Company (PICO) then moved to San Antonio . Also, I agree with both yours and David's opinion that the Heddon vamp lure is the result of a post alteration. Very interesting information. Thanks Again!

Top bait is an altered Heddon #7509D Vamp. Bottom bait is a Pico bait from Texas and may be correct. Neither of them are Harden Whiz baits. |

They both look like fisherman altered baits to me. The damage where the spinners added is the reason for my opinion. |
